Apple Maps Business Connect UK: Is It Worth Setting Up

Apple Business Connect is now part of Apple Business. What UK owners get on Apple Maps, how verification works, and whether it is worth an hour of setup.

If you have searched "apple business connect uk" recently, you may have noticed that Apple's pages now send you somewhere slightly different. In March 2026 Apple announced it was folding Business Connect into a new platform called Apple Business. The place card tools are still there, the cost is still zero, and most UK owners still ask the same question: is it worth an hour of your week?

This guide covers what changed, what you can control on Apple Maps, how verification works, and where it fits next to Google Business Profile. It sticks to what Apple publishes and leaves out anything that only applies in the US.

What happened to Apple Business Connect in 2026?

Apple Business Connect no longer exists as a separate product. Apple announced on 24 March 2026 that it would be replaced, along with Apple Business Manager and Apple Business Essentials, by one free platform called Apple Business, available from 14 April 2026. Existing data migrates automatically.

According to Apple's own announcement, Apple Business launched on 14 April 2026 in more than 200 countries and regions, and the older services stopped being available once it launched. For a UK shop or salon that only ever used Business Connect to fix its opening hours, very little changes in practice. You log in at a different address, and the Maps tools sit alongside device management and business email that most small firms will ignore.

The name change matters for one reason. Plenty of older guides, including some agency pages, still describe Business Connect step by step with screenshots that no longer match. If a menu is not where a guide says it is, that is probably why.

What can you control on an Apple Maps place card?

You can control your business details, address, opening hours, phone number, website, logo, photos, custom action buttons such as order or reserve, and Showcases for offers or seasonal items. You also get insights showing how people find and interact with your listing on Maps.

Apple's March 2026 announcement lists the place card features in plain terms:

  • Photos, location details, hours and other useful details
  • Showcases to highlight deals, special offers, new products or seasonal items
  • Custom actions such as order or reserve, which send people to your website or booking app
  • Insights into how customers find and interact with your location on Maps, including searches, views and taps on actions
  • Branded mail, which shows your logo in the Mail app and iCloud Mail

For a UK business the most useful items are usually the boring ones. Correct bank holiday hours, a phone number that actually rings, and a booking button that goes straight to your booking page instead of your homepage. A Showcase for a December menu or a January sale is a nice extra once the basics are right.

How many UK customers could see your Apple Maps listing?

A meaningful share. StatCounter put iOS at 46.88% of UK mobile web traffic in September 2026, so close to half of the phones browsing the web in Britain are iPhones, where Apple Maps is the default maps app.

StatCounter's UK mobile operating system data measures web traffic, not who opens which maps app, so treat it as an upper bound on reach rather than a count of Apple Maps users. Plenty of iPhone owners install Google Maps and never touch Apple's. Still, the default app gets used whenever someone taps an address in a text message, asks Siri for "a dentist near me", or opens a location from a calendar invite. Those are moments you do not control unless your card is accurate.

How do you claim and verify your business on Apple Maps?

Sign in to Apple Business with an Apple Account, search for your location, and claim it. For a location already on Maps, Apple calls the phone number it holds for that business and you enter the four-digit code from the call. Your organisation also needs verifying for your first location.

Apple's support guide on verifying a location sets out the phone route: select Location Verification, choose the phone option, add an extension if needed, then enter the four-digit code once the call comes through. Practical steps that save a second attempt:

  1. Check the number first. The call goes to the number Apple already has on file. If that is a disconnected landline or a previous owner's mobile, Apple says to contact Apple Business support.
  2. Warn whoever answers. A receptionist who hangs up on an automated call costs you a day.
  3. Allow Apple's emails. Apple's guide says to make sure your email filters allow mail from apple.com domains, so review messages do not land in spam.
  4. Match your details. Use the same business name, address and phone format you use on your website and Google profile.
  5. Fill in everything after verifying. Hours, holiday hours, categories, website, and a handful of real photos of the shopfront and interior.
  6. Add one action button. Point it at the exact booking, menu or order page.

If someone else already manages the listing, such as a former agency, Apple's guide says a request to transfer management can take up to five business days to review.

Is Apple Business worth it compared with Google Business Profile?

Yes, as a second priority. Google Business Profile still matters more for most UK small businesses because it covers Google Search and Google Maps on every phone. Apple Business is free and takes about an hour, so once your Google profile is solid there is little reason to leave your Apple card unmanaged.

The honest trade-off is effort against reach. Google gets more attention, more reviews and more searches. Apple gets the iPhone owners who never installed anything else. Setting up both costs little, and a wrong Apple card can send a customer to a locked door on a Sunday.

Can you run Apple Maps ads in the UK?

Not as far as Apple has announced. Apple's March 2026 announcement said ads in Apple Maps would launch in the US and Canada, starting that summer. The UK was not named, so check Apple's business pages before paying anyone for UK Maps ads.

Apple's announcement named only the US and Canada for Maps ads. That helps UK owners in one way. Without paid placements in British Apple Maps results, organic factors like accuracy, category choice and photos are what count, and they are all free. If paid placement arrives later, a well-kept card with good photos will start from a stronger position.

How does Apple Maps fit with AI assistants and Siri?

Your place card reaches more than the Maps app. Apple lists Siri, Mail and Wallet alongside Maps as places businesses can reach local customers, so an accurate card helps when someone asks their iPhone for a nearby business rather than typing a search.

Voice and assistant searches tend to return one or two answers, not a page of ten. That makes consistent data across Apple, Google and your own website more important, because assistants lean on whichever source looks most reliable. What should you do after your Apple Maps listing is live?

Check it monthly, update hours before every bank holiday, refresh photos a few times a year, and look at the insights to see whether people tap for directions, calls or your website. Keep every detail identical to your Google profile and website.

A short routine works better than a big launch:

  • Before each bank holiday: set special hours on Apple and Google on the same day.
  • Quarterly: replace any dated photos and check the action button still lands on a live page.
  • Monthly: read the insights. If lots of people tap for directions but few call, your phone number may be wrong or hidden.
  • Whenever you change something: update your website first, then both listings.

Reviews are the one area where Apple gives you less direct control, so make sure the reviews you do earn are visible elsewhere, for example by learning how to add reviews to your website. If missed bookings are part of the reason you want better listings, AI appointment reminders tackle the other end of the same problem.

So, is Apple Business Connect worth setting up for a UK business?

For nearly every UK business with a physical location or service area, yes. It is free, takes about an hour, and close to half of UK mobile web traffic comes from iOS devices. Set up Google Business Profile first, then claim your Apple card and keep both in step.

The businesses that gain most are those customers visit in person: cafés, salons, clinics, gyms, garages and shops. Service businesses that travel to customers gain less but still benefit from a correct phone number and website on the card. If you want help keeping Apple, Google and your website consistent as part of a wider plan, local SEO support is one option, though you can do everything in this guide yourself in an afternoon.

Common Questions

Apple Maps Business Connect UK — FAQ

Is Apple Business Connect still available in the UK?

Not under that name. Apple announced on 24 March 2026 that Apple Business Connect, Apple Business Manager and Apple Business Essentials would be replaced by a single platform called Apple Business. It became available on 14 April 2026 in more than 200 countries and regions. Apple says existing Business Connect data migrates automatically, so a place card you claimed before is still yours. If you are setting up for the first time, you sign in at business.apple.com rather than the old Business Connect address. The place card tools are the same as before: hours, photos, logo, Showcases, custom actions and insights. People still search for Business Connect, so expect older guides and agency pages to use the old name for a while yet.

Does Apple Business cost anything for a UK small business?

The core service is free. Apple's March 2026 announcement describes Apple Business as a free service in the US and more than 200 countries and regions. Claiming your location, editing your place card and viewing insights cost nothing. The paid parts are optional extras such as more iCloud storage and AppleCare+ for Business, which a café or plumber has no need for just to manage a Maps listing. Ads in Apple Maps are also paid, but Apple's announcement named only the US and Canada for those, so check Apple's own site before assuming they are on offer in the UK. The real cost is your time, usually about an hour to claim, verify and fill in the card properly.

How do I verify my business location on Apple Maps?

If your business already appears on Apple Maps, Apple's support guide says you choose Location Verification and request a verification call to the phone number Apple already holds for that location. You then type in the four-digit code from the call. If you do not recognise the number Apple has on file, perhaps because it is an old landline or a previous owner's mobile, Apple tells you to contact Apple Business support instead. For your first location, your organisation also has to be verified and sent to Apple for review. Have your business phone answered by someone who knows a call is coming, and make sure the number on your website matches the one you plan to use.

Is Apple Maps more important than Google Business Profile in the UK?

No. Google Business Profile should still come first for almost every UK small business, because Google appears on Android and iPhone alike and runs Google Search. Apple Maps matters because it is the default maps app on iPhone and Apple lists Siri among the places businesses can reach local customers. StatCounter put iOS at 46.88% of UK mobile web traffic in September 2026. Many of those people will use Google Maps anyway, but some will tap an address, ask Siri, or search in Apple Maps without thinking about it. Set up Google first, then spend an hour on Apple, and keep both listings matching so customers never see two different sets of opening hours.

Can I run Apple Maps ads for my UK business?

Not as far as Apple has announced. Apple said in March 2026 that ads in Apple Maps would start in the US and Canada that summer, appearing in the Maps app on iPhone and iPad. The UK was not named in that launch. If you see an agency offering UK Apple Maps ads, ask exactly which product they mean, because it may be ordinary Apple Ads in the App Store rather than Maps placements. For now, UK visibility on Apple Maps comes from a complete, accurate place card, good photos, and consistent details across the web, rather than from paid placement. Check Apple's business pages for updates, as this could change.
